“Once a year I would remove the fire rock and clean the burners,” says Stephen Block of Inner Gardens, who designs his own custom outdoor fire pits out of antique French limestone. “Make sure your fire pit has drainage so water from rain can drain out, and holes around the sides to allow for air movement around the gas line.” Safety first, always.

“The home’s buoyant spirit continues outside, in the landscape designed by Stephen Block. “The garden had great bones –100-year-old cedars—but sometimes my inspiration comes from objects,” explains Block, pointing to an antique French fountain that drove the design. He brought in tidy clipped boxwood, fragrant jasmine, oakleaf hydrangeas, redbuds, citrus and vegetable gardens, alongside birdbaths. “The end result is a really pretty green-on-green-on-green,” says Block.

The botanical specialists took into consideration Haenn’s busy professional life, her desire for a living environment instilled with a sense of Zen and the interior concept Fogel Scott had conceived when making selections for the home. “

“To rejuvenate the grounds, Davies-Gaetano brought in landscape designer and antiques dealer Stephen Block of LA’s Inner Gardens. “Initially we came in with a few great trees for the interior, but Sofía wanted more and more and more. The landscape had never been properly finished, so we tried to bring the property to life with new plantings and a mix of unusual antique urns, fountains, benches, and pots,” Block reports. “We also added a few tropical elements that connect Sofía to her roots.”

Interior designer Hillary Thomas asked Stephen Block to “make it beautiful,” and he did. The entire garden (save for the palms) was designed and installed by Inner Gardens. The seating area with a fountain in the center distinctively expresses a vision for sophisticated outdoor living.

Designer Adam Hunter transformed a Mediterranean-style home in Brentwood Park, Los Angeles, into a traditional haven for a couple and their four children. The entry features an 8′ Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree planted in an Inner Gardens stone Pillow Planter with a custom gold finish.
