Our Los Angeles Showroom

Stephen Block opened Los Angeles-based Inner Gardens in 1990 as a home for his collections and as a resource for interior designers, landscape architects, architects, and other design professionals in need of unforgettable, original pieces. The Culver City showroom is ever-changing, thanks to Stephen’s worldwide network of dealers who know to call him immediately when they find a piece on his watch list.

“Inner Gardens is so much fun. It’s like going on a trip abroad. I know I’ll always find great containers, especially urns, or antique benches or putti.” Mia Lehrer, Landscape Designer

“I use more interior plants now because, when I want something more distinctive than a classic ficus or a palm, like a Ficus triangularis, Stephen finds it for me. Before, I wasn’t happy with what I saw. It just wasn’t special enough.” Michael Smith, Interior Designer

When you visit the showroom, you arrive at a tranquil garden marked by an allée of giant date palms hidden in the concrete jungle of Culver City’s Arts District. A horticultural trail of breadcrumbs leads to open, airy galleries and outdoor spaces artfully filled with the juxtaposition of antique and modern garden containers, furnishings and objets d’art that define Stephen’s iconic style.

He and his staff live, work and breathe everyday the garden experience that they are creating for their customers. The opportunities to show clients exquisite garden settings in situ are unparalleled for the design company who opened these galleries and gardens in 2015 following a devastating fire that destroyed the entire indoor inventory at its previous location on Jefferson Boulevard. Here, clients can see what is possible in real spaces, both indoors and out, including an upper level balcony. Inner Gardens showroom concept is a completely different approach to delivering design ideas and inspiring beauty to landscape designers and those who seek to hire one.

Inner Gardens extraordinary specimen nursery is inhabited with rare plants from around the world. Here’s a sampling: Ficus palmerii, multi-headed Dracaena draco, multi-hued, hard-to-find plumeria, and rare orchids and bromeliads that cause the most avid collector to swoon. Our clients enjoy watching the design team at work in the Color Department. Our staff creates custom-designed orchid, succulent, and green arrangements for homeowners who want fresh, interesting, and well-designed interior plantings.

There’s also a succulent composition room, marrying the myriad colors and textures of hardy and bold succulents with one-of-a-kind containers selected by Stephen during his often-and-epic shopping trips around the world that have resulted in a complex collection ranging from 15th century to modern mid-century.

Inner Gardens is a one-stop shop offering services to meet every need for both commercial and residential garden, including a landscape design department headed by Stephen and expert installation and maintenance. The nursery itself is sought out by the top design professionals from across the country.
