Description
A lovely planter born during the Earthgender era of the 1960’s in southern California from esteemed pottery artists David Cressey and Robert Maxwell. This planter will rest nicely on an end table or counter top, but also has a size large enough to draw attention added to a decorative floor plan. The supply and demand factor of pottery left over from Earthgender keeps these Cressey/ Maxwell pieces increasing in value. This particular example features an orange glaze that is subtle and earthy in tone with a remarkable shine. The incised lines representing the rays of the sun are decorated into sections of the vessel, symbolic of the daily positions of the sun, and the paying homage to the energy flora depend upon.
