French “Ponies” were used in the 19th century mostly as wash basins for laundry. Constructed from brick like chunks of clay, smoothed over then decorated, resembling a large cauldron, and designed with a drain. This antique French ponne, circa 1910, is quite breath taking. It has a deep rich copper tone color and has a woven basket pattern embossed around the diameter near the top, and again in vertical, evenly spaced segments down to the bottom. The basket like design in the decor is typically seen on French ponies from the 19th century, but rarely will one find a ponne in this good of condition. At just over three feet in Diameter and 28 inches tall it is able hold large plants and medium trees as a planter. This French antique is a stunning addition to your home or garden.
